skiing and boarding

Overall

Grand Massif, France's 4th largest ski areaThe Grand Massif is a huge ski area of five linked resorts (Morillon, Samoëns, Les Carroz, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval and Flaine) with a wide range of varied terrain for all levels of skier and snowboarder. There are 18 green runs, 66 blue runs, 46 red runs, 14 black runs and huge areas of off-piste terrain. Luxury catered ski chalet Rêves de Montagne is nestled in the heart of this area – we are only five minutes drive to the ski lift in Morillon and nine to Samoëns and both these lifts take you quickly up into the ski area.

In advance of your holiday we can arrange for ski or board hire and lessons for you, just let us know what you need on the booking form. We have a good relationship with local ski shops and can obtain 20% discount on published hire prices for you. Lift passes can be easily bought on-line.

For beginners

You’ll have great fun and gain your ski confidence on a range of green (beginner) pistes including the marvellous Marvel in Morillon – a wide, pretty and interesting 7km run through the trees.

Intermediate skiers

If you consider yourself an intermediate skier then you’ll be delighted with the huge distances you can ski, wide range of different runs to experience, and stunning views of Mont Blanc to make your skiing even more magical.

Advanced skiing

Adrenaline seekers can spend hours playing in the black off-piste snow bowl of Combe de Gers or experience a guided off-piste run that includes abseiling 50m down a frozen waterfall!  For a new thrill why not try speed riding – taking off on skis with a small glider. It’s a mixture of sliding on the snow and flying through the air and is a sport that will guarantee some unforgettable memories.

Chamonix Mont Blanc day trip

Experience Mont Blanc’s famous glacial descent – the Vallee Blanche – and some of the world’s most scenic off piste skiing. Departing from the top of the Aiguille du Midi at 3700m, where you’ll enjoy incredible views over the Chamonix Valley, your High Mountain Guide will take you down 18 kilometres, 2800m of vertical descent, of beautiful off piste, stopping for lunch with a view half way. Skiing the Vallee Blanche is a unique way to experience the Mer de Glace and one of the most beautiful glaciers of Mont Blanc first-hand. A truly unforgettable experience and a great day trip, only 45 mins drive away. Visit our photo gallery for inspiration or our video to show you what it’s like.

Children

The Grand Massif resort prides itself on being family friendly and both Samoëns and Morillon offer a wide range of childcare. There are nurseries for babies over three months old and children up to six years old (half or full days) and ski schools/lessons for children over three. Morillon has been recognised by Ski France as a Children’s Resort for the quality and diversity of the activities and entertainment it provides. Rêves de Montagne provides safe indoor and outdoor spaces for children who don’t fancy skiing all the time and we cna also arrange for a private nanny or babysitter.

Nordic skiing

There are 46 km of tracks, along the banks of the Giffre river and up the mountain at 1700m altitude, ready for you to explore with tracks ranging from 2km suitable for beginners to 16 km for more experienced skiers. There are two types of Nordic skiing: skating, which gives a sensation similar to rollerblading or ice skating, and classic which involves more of a propelling motion.
