Samoëns

medieval delight

Dating back to the 13th century, Samoëns was once a thriving stone cutting centre and it still retains many architectural features from this era. Botanical garden, gothic church, medieval squares, timber-fronted patisseries and picture-box houses are all set against the backdrop of spectacular mountains. Samoëns is a ville fleurie which recognises it as one of the prettiest villages in France and it is the only Alpine resort in France to be listed as a historical and artistic monument.

The tastefully developed town bars, restaurants and shops offer a good mix of interesting products and every Wednesday morning you can stroll around the traditional market which has been taking place every Wednesday for over 500 years!
